Sam F.S. Chin is the eldest son of the late I Liq Chuan founder, Grandmaster Chin Lik Keong. He immigrated to the United States, where he worked and tought ‘I Liq Chuan’ at the Chuang Yen Monastery. Sam Chin introduced Zen Philosophy into the family art and began to deepen his understanding of the underlying principles. Chin Lik Keong was gifted martial artist. He realized and dissolved his skill into the fundamentals of movement.  This process inevitably developed into a new method, with its own unique set of principles, strategies, and tactics. “Don’t look at the move.” He would say, “Look for the principle behind the move.”  Chin Lik KeongWong Choon Ching proposed the name I Liq Chuan to represent Sifu Chin Lik Keong’s central idea that related Consciousness (I) and Power (Liq).
